A Message from Our Rector
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Thank you! Thank you for all of your support and generosity over the past year! It is hard to believe that I am well into my second year serving as rector of our beloved Co-Cathedral. I am extremely grateful for everything that we have accomplished in the past several months and the direction that we are moving in. This brochure highlights many of the new activities and ministries that have begun or been restarted over the last several months.
I have been very encouraged by the number of women participating in the Walking with Purpose program, the youth attending the youth group, the young adults showing up to adore the Lord in the Eucharist. Our campus ministry continues to grow and be outstanding! I am grateful to our Knights of Columbus round table and the work they have begun to serve the parish community. Our St. Vincent de Paul Society has distributed around $60,000 in assistance to local families who are in need! The turnout for our community hangouts at Winthrop Park has been great and our parish picnic a few weeks ago was a tremendous success! (I allowed a tarantula to crawl on me!)
Financially we are doing quite well! Our property insurance obligation tripled this past year (yes, tripled) but thanks to your generosity and support we have been able to meet the need. Our offertory collections were the highest in the history of the Co-Cathedral this past fiscal year, and we met our CSA goal well before the end of the year.
I am so thankful for your presence, your prayers, your time, and your sacrifice to make our Church a real light in our community. I am excited about the future and where we are heading!
In Christ,
This week you will receive a newsletter introducing our renewal program “Celebrating Today, Planning for Tomorrow”. On Commitment Weekend, November 4th and 5th, everyone is invited to participate in this important program and help us respond to God’s great gift of love. Please review this newsletter and prayerfully consider how you and your family can help the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More by renewing your annual commitment to financially support our ministries, further our mission, and reinforce our future.
A commitment card will be included along with
the newsletter for you to:
The back of the Commitment Card has a place for you to include any prayer intentions you wish to share. We welcome all intentions and they will be prayed for collectively over the next few weeks. If you would like to speak to a priest, please indicate so on your card and we will be in contact with you.
Our goal is 100% participation!
Thank you for your generosity and support
of the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More!
